What is that drum related itch you have not scratched ?

I’d have to drive 40 minutes just to rehearse, IF there was even anyone looking for a drummer over 50 for anything other than classic rock covers. There isn’t, I check Craigslist often enough.
Hilarious. Couldn't find a drummer to save my life back in the day. Everybody I knew doing originals packed up and moved to Portland. I'd sell my drums and hire you, but the commute is a bit too far...

My itching is like a dream whose feeling lingers but the specifics are gone. I’m scratching it by keeping on plugging away trying to slowly improve and widen my music appreciation and skill sets.
I’d really like to do a cymbal making camp too

I'm not sure my main itch will ever be fully scratched, but I'm tryin'! I seem to have this insatiable itch to get better and play with better players. It's driving me a LOT lately. I'm taking lessons from several people, constantly working on stuff I can't do well and playing out a ton. I wish I had more practice time, but sit at the kit nearly every day and get in at least 30 minutes, sometimes an hour or so. It's amazing how far just this little bit of time consistently can take you. Really enjoying bettering my skills, where this is taking me and where I might get to go with all this.

Regarding gear - I'm mostly past the point of wanting any more STUFF. I've upgraded things that make gigging easier. I have a dream kit but really don't need it and the kits I have now serve me well. I've fully realized, the gear won't make me any better.

I have all of the gear I have ever wanted. What I need is a third musician to play the music I want to play. Peace and goodwill.

I scratched that itch this year . Been wanting one for 50 years (literally)
Nearly got one in 2004. It's see through drums and drunkards that puts me off getting one.

When I retire maybe

Rick, I actually thought about a Vistalite set not long ago, as I see them for sale all the time on FB marketplace. I may try a snare first to see how I like it. I'd want a rare color though, not the usual red or blue you see frequently. Green would be nice, and not amber, because all the Bonham nerds have amber. In all honesty, I have never played a Vistalite set. Can you give me a rundown on the way they sound?

I watched a video recently where they took a vista snare shell and a maple shell of the same depth and thickness, and thumped them like a bell to hear if they could note any difference that way. The maple had a distinct pitched tone and it rang for a full second. The vista was about an octave lower, and did not sustain hardly at all.

when I think of recorded Vistalites
maybe some Gottlieb with Metheny Group white album
but Roy 1978 with Gary Burton Times Square Lp of which almost all Premium on you tube

that's a larger concert tom set

I know the title is a little open ended , so I will elaborate . Is there something drum related that you either wanted to own , wanted to do , someone to study with ? What is that itch you just have not scratched ? Do you think you will ?too many to list.

When I was broke, I had green vistalites, 70’s Ludwigs, Slingerland and Gretsch. I had most everything to scratch the itch. I have the cymbals and snares I want. I think after I complete my drum room that’s it.
