What are you listening to right now?

Jam Session From The 1947Film "Fabulous Dorseys"
Art Tatum : Piano
Tommy Dorsey : Trombone
Jimmie Dorsey : Clarinet
Charlie Barnet : Sax
George Van Eps : Guitar
Ray Bauduc : Drums
Ziggy Elman : Trumpet
Stuart Foster : Bass

That was a great transition from a jazz waltz to an uptempo swing, and all in time, with a drum solo right in the transition, serving as the bridge between the two.

....one reason why Ray Bauduc is one of my favourite drummers. =)

Believe it or not, I'm listening to The Pointer Sisters greatest hits. Started my morning with Michael Jackson's G.Hits.

Listening to the Pointer Sisters led me to look up who their drummer was. A lot of great beats. Gaylord Birch. Died young, my goodness, cancer at 50.

He also played with Herbie, Santana, Graham Central St.. . . .and also cool, he played for a bit with Jerry Garcia and Merle Saunders in '79. I'm going to have to look up more of his playing.

I had these 2 going earlier today from my "New Songs" playlist

Steppenwolf move over. Is it a BLAZING single stroke or double? Jerry Edmonton is unleashing. Damn!
If you're talking about the little fills he's putting in here and there. They sound like singles to me.
