What are you listening to right now?

Going to see Johnny Marr live soon, so listening to some of his more recent works, and I really dig this one in particular--the fact that the string part is pretty darn reminiscent of "There Is a Light That Never Goes Out" doesn't hurt:

that's right! I forget...what boggles my mind is I remember that song like it was yesterday...
I was eight Elvis :D

check their similarities with the Beatles
You were apparently quite the 8 year old!
...ok, I'll stop ( 😁)
Do you know if there is any truth to the story that Ferry cross the Mersey was originally offered to The Beatles, but they gave it to Gerry & The Pacemakers instead?

Stumbled on this cover while looking for something else (as often happens with the internets). This 70's R&B take on Showdown is actually pretty decent. Odia Coates is better known for singing on a few (big) hits with Paul Anka, including the dreadful Having my Baby.

...been diggin' a lot of Van Morrison today...

Connie Kay( Modern Jazz Quartet) playing drums on the song " Tupelo Honey ". His snare figures are not what you'd usually hear on a regular rock/soul type ballad . He's comping . You'll hear him on a couple other tunes too on the T.H. album.
