What are you listening to right now?

If you listen to no other Jazz in your life, please catch the track "If I were a bell" off of this album. Peterson's opening statement in the song. The interplay between him and the late great drummer Bobby Durham is so slick, its absolutely sublime. One of those pieces of time where everything came togther in complete harmony and just played out.
An historical moment that never seems to garner the appreciation and respect it deserves.
It's the second track heard here...

Side 1:

If I Were A Bell 9:34
Side 2:

another interesting well done one from...

Andy Edwards

Unfortunate that he explains how traditional grip came from military drummers playing a marching snare, but he doesn't know that the snare was slung to the left not the right. The way he demonstrates the technique doesn't even make sense.

I've got nothing after that. Brain radio completely shut down. Rare Earth was playing Big Brother but OP just pulverized it. 45 years ago, I was a Chick Corea aficionado - my Mom was an Oscar Peterson gal. At 65 years of age, I'm still learning Mom's lessons. Thanks for the reinforcement, @Elvis!

Art of Noise - Close (To The Edit), from the 1984 album Who's Afraid of the Art of Noise? An early example of sampling, which in turn has been sampled itself countless times since.

Somewhat obnoxious… but I can hear where it came from, and what it led to.
