"Wake 'n Break" Series

I broke out an old idea of mine from years back for this morning's wake n break. I've always had fun playing this groove and figured it would fit well in this series. As always, hope you guys enjoy and have a great weekend everyone!

What started out as a very frustrating and aggressive morning session eventually calmed down a bit and this groove was the result. I was originally smashing on a lot of trashy sounds but it ended up on just the h-hats, snare, and bass.

This was a pretty simple one. The funny thing is that it was the last thing to come out during this morning's session. I was trying for something completely different but I couldn't quite nail it in time. This groove just kind of developed out of a mistake, but I think it works. Hope some of you guys dig on it!

Drums and cymbals and exhaust pipes, oh my! :p I decided to break out my old exhaust pipes and play around with some metallic sounds for this morning's session. It was definitely fun to incorporate them into my setup again after sitting in a percussion bag for two years. As always, I hope some of you dig it!

I felt like trying to incorporate a Brazilian tamborim into this morning's wake 'n break session. It's a very simple "boom chick" ostinato with the feet while the hands are playing the tamborim and snare. I wanted to explore the idea further but I had a very small amount of time to experiment this morning. As always, I hope some of you dig it or have fun with it!
