I broke out an old idea of mine from years back for this morning's wake n break. I've always had fun playing this groove and figured it would fit well in this series. As always, hope you guys enjoy and have a great weekend everyone!
What started out as a very frustrating and aggressive morning session eventually calmed down a bit and this groove was the result. I was originally smashing on a lot of trashy sounds but it ended up on just the h-hats, snare, and bass.
This was a pretty simple one. The funny thing is that it was the last thing to come out during this morning's session. I was trying for something completely different but I couldn't quite nail it in time. This groove just kind of developed out of a mistake, but I think it works. Hope some of you guys dig on it!
Drums and cymbals and exhaust pipes, oh my! I decided to break out my old exhaust pipes and play around with some metallic sounds for this morning's session. It was definitely fun to incorporate them into my setup again after sitting in a percussion bag for two years. As always, I hope some of you dig it!
I felt like trying to incorporate a Brazilian tamborim into this morning's wake 'n break session. It's a very simple "boom chick" ostinato with the feet while the hands are playing the tamborim and snare. I wanted to explore the idea further but I had a very small amount of time to experiment this morning. As always, I hope some of you dig it or have fun with it!
Here's today's wake 'n break session. It's a weekend, so I sleep in late. I had fun with a simplified variation of the bass line to Grandmaster Flash's "White Lines" on the bass drum. Feel free to have fun with it!
What started out as an incredibly frustrating morning with a malfunctioning camera ended up being a fun and relaxing session in the end. I put an old out of tune pan drum on my set and I played an easy melody/rhythm on it while laying down a backbeat. Hope you guys like it!
Was a little under the weather today, so I was going to stay in bed. Kill that noise! Music is my medicine, so I made myself get up and play. Feeling ten times better already! Here's a groove that's two bars of 5/4. Enjoy!
Dirty drumming? Sure! This morning's session was a simple but trashy sixteenth note groove. As always, I hope some of you enjoy it and/or decide to have fun with it! Hope everyone here at DW has a great weekend!
Here's a groove I was working on during this morning's wake 'n break session. I used one stick and one brush, which was fun because it's been a while since I broke the brushes out. As always guys, I hope some of you enjoy it and have fun making it your own!
