New band for Virgil, but they cancelled their concert. Check it out.

09.06.10 European Tour Cancellation

We regret to announce the cancellation of the Seven The Hardway tour of Europe.

Due to the delayed release of the album (August instead of April) and the booking of the tour immediately following European summer vacation, there has not been adequate opportunity to properly promote the record or the tour.

We apologize for the inconvenience. For ticket refunds, please visit your original place of purchase.

We plan to re-book in the future, once the new album has had a chance to be heard by our fans.

As always, we thank you for your continued support.

Bummer. Canceled the entire tour, eh?

That doesn't surprise me given that you have to sell tickets for there to be a tour. This even happened to Jeff Lynne when he brought back a regurgitated ELO for the Zoom tour. They got a good DVD out of it, though. Had Gregg Bissonette and his brother as the rhythm section. And Jeff Lynne has written hits that people know!

I can imagine how tough it would be to sell tickets for a tour playing music nobody knows.

ELO is dead...literally. The cello player got killed by a bail of hay.

Check it out. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/7982808/Former-member-of-ELO-killed-by-hay-bale-while-driving.html

Saw him twice back in the 90's when he was still a local lad.

First time was with The Southern Sons (very mediocre and generic shlock rock act): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uukWNOyYhSU and if it wasn't for Virg, I'd never have bothered.
Second time was with a local act he had going called On the Virg. Honestly, the man is a beast live. No complex polyrhythms or freaky time signatures to be heard anywhere (well, perhaps a touch during his solos).......just awesome drumming that blew me away and inspired me to get a hell of a lot better.

No idea what his new stuff is like, but he can play up a storm.......not bad for a Melbourne boy!

Wow you lucky bastard!! The On The Virg album is one of my favourite ever! Drumming to die for!

Sad thing the tour got cancelled, I'd love to see Virgil live again sometime! I've seen him with SoulSirkus, and I attended a drum clinic, it was just mindblowing.
