Vintage Ludwig 18" bass drum conversion: 6 ply or 3 ply

I have no idea if there is something I should know about. I do like the Danmar riser, looks like it holds it really well.

I prefer the 3 ply shell but it is just personal choice.
There are several types of spurs, risers, etc. that you can use.
Again its all just personal choice.

Yeah the Trick one is nice and simple/smallish, which is good. I read somewhere that the Danmar one will fit in a 22 inch bag/case attached, which would work out good for me because I have one already. I've read all about the differences of sound between 3-ply and 6-ply, but using it as a kick (part time) I guess I would opt for 6-ply. Easier tuning, louder, thumpier, and stronger. I just don't know for sure.

If you're gigging out (sounds like) and you need volume, 6 ply will give you a little more projection. I've had kits in both 3 and 6 ply. For gigging, I ran with the 6 ply. For my home, 3 ply.
