Turkish K Zildjian ID help

A friend picked up an old K 16" in a job lot sale. He offered to trade me for a pint of beer. There are some cracks and tearing round the centre hole

I'm looking to get it valued before he does something silly. Any help on identification is gratefully accepted

it's a Type I or early II KZiljian Istanbul.
So the First coming from the Constantinople era marked prior era ones.
Pretty impressive

It's a I or II K istanbul as the K is same letter height as the ZILDJIAN
KZILDJIAN instead of Where the late II - type III is Kzildjian

also the sound/shape/build/ is becoming more sophisticated/modern when they become stamped Istanbul;
so most important they are usable in this day; and not as primitive (as the prior Constantinople

early same height K
IIa-1945-49-182x300.jpg

and the Big K..
IIbjpg.jpg

interesting folklore story of why "the big K".. (late IIb and thereafter

" Meanwhile in a foundry near Yedikule, Mikael Usta, who had taken up production in the footsteps of Big Kerope, began stamping a large ‘K’ on the cymbals he made in the Great Master’s name."

I have three old K 16" 's I use.
Type IV, New Stamp and an Intermediate
1270/1275/1075 common era weights
sometimes as hi hat other times as a left or third suspended

Why I'm at it, anyone know anything about this 16" crash? It ways 1040grams and sounds pretty good

I’m not positive, but I think this was made by UFIP. Maybe check through the cymbalholic archive to see if anything comes up, if it’s still accessible.

That stamp looks like 1945 era maybe earlier ?? How does it sound?

Sadly cymbalholic doesn't seem to exist anymore. I found a good thread on drumforum.org about knock-off zildjians.

Seems likely to have come out of a zildjian or UFIP factory and branded for distribution by Premier. What with the tight lathing and polished finish I wonder if it's from canada

you can pin-drop /toothpick/ some JB Weld / right along the cracks; and if all goes well it will hold forever; I've done similar to an old A 13" and never again did it budge
JB Weld in England? I dunno the name/term

Brass grommets are another option.

Brass grommet on top of JB weld might be the shizz.

rather ride bareback/ without the (added brass or metal weight) for mere spider cracks. added metal/weight might affect tone/performance/ have more of a muting affect than the weld alone)

the old K group on facebook has many usa and (probably more) non-usa members;
you could/might connect with someone local Ken If you make the decision not to keep it

now this Paiste (602 SSS 18" China) of mine (ex-Curt Cress-Passport cymbal) may benefit from a washer.

P602SSSch 002.JPG

Haven't got around to it.

I have done a temporary fix on the cymbal to see how ot fits in a quartet20230422_161723.jpg
I made washers out of a donor and made a sandwich using hot glue as the relish. I sqeezed it all together with a wing bolt while it cooled. I tried to anneal the washers and profile them to fit but they still cracked. Seems sturdy enough for a test run

20230423_154732.jpgI took the cymbal to a local gig and it worked wonders. The hum just disappeared in the venue. Really lush controllable wash that rode well under guitar, trumpet and voice. The variety of sounds I could get from it is surprising. Really nice quick crash with good sustain. Couldn't be happier with a it.
