Through Being Cool Devo Tribute!

Had a great gig playing at the Pala Casino in California last night! The last time I came here we saw Tony Bennett and nobody told me we were playing the same stage. The crew was awesome and the venue was first class! Here’s our opening number my wife got with her phone (you’re not supposed to record anything at this venue since they film everything as well). The Vox kit performed well and the stage crew even raved about my snare. Fun times!

Best place we’ve played so far! Having an entire stage crew do a proper sound check, then an in-ear monitor check - I swear our set was 30 minutes, but Our soundcheck was almost an hour. The green room was this big understage bar lounge stocked with everything we wanted to drink and snacks. Security was tight but everyone was friendly. They even gave us vouchers to eat at one of their seven restaurants in the casino! Too bad they can’t all be like this one 😕

I've been lucky enough to have a few gigs like that in my so-called career. They were a great change from the usual bar slog.

I have to make public my love for this Vox drumkit, and not only for its peculiar aesthetics (croco finish included, just like in the old Trixon), but for the overwhelming sound. Shells made by Sakae...
A local store makes me an offer of 25% off and I am tempted about it.

Yes. Technically we write it: Through Being Cool DEVO Tribute.

But a lot of the places we’ve played will just put “DEVO Tribute” on the marquis. They do that to all of them. One place by my house has listed “Madonna Tribute” one week, then “Depeche Mode Tribute” the next week. I don’t think anyone cares what the bands call themselves.

Thanks - gotta a lot of comments on it from the gig. I’ll probably just use it with them to keep from wearing out the bass drum head too soon. I have a spare head, and have two more spares on order (only 12 more weeks to wait!) but at $200 a piece, I need to stretch out their usefulness.
