The Beatles, "Come Together" Who's Doing It Right?

So true.
Ringo plays an almost continuous tom solo during the second verse of Let It Be. First I had to force myself to do it as it just feels wrong. Second It was super hard to make it sound legit, not just an idiot stomping all over a great song. I struggled with it every show.
I do, as well! That's such an enigmatic part that is uniquely Ringo, even in the way it swings. I pretty much wing it until it gets to "speaking ba-da-ba-bum-of wisdom-ba-da-ba-bum-let it be" lol. But it always feels so hamfisted.

I don't think Ringo's playing it the way he played it on the record--he's playing an extra note in the video. Plus, we have photos that show he was using the double rack tom maple kit during the sessions so it's possible he was using the middle tom as well.

Thanks for agreeing with me :) Some people here were making it Qqqseem like I was out of my mind. No disrespect at all to Ringo. He was put on the spot on TV in front of a live audience. He payed great, just not like the original, and as you pointed out he used a different set on the recording, not to mention he’s in his 80’s, being asked to perform something played close 60 years ago!

Sounds like the Drumeo version is spot on to the original recording.

Either way it doesn’t really matter.

I use to play it with my lil Safari (10,14,16) but the 10 in tom was to wimpy to play like Ringo so I’d do Ringo hats to floor, but then I’d just move my left to high tom and play both for last. It sounded better than 10 alone. Ringo’s toms had a funky boxy sound that make it hard to emulate.
