Teachers: Do you also teach how to tune?

Yes, but it depends a lot on the student.
 
My first two teachers did. The most recent didn't, but I came in to him with enough obvious skill that he skipped tuning after simply asking me if I had a good grasp.
 
I don't teach tuning to all of my students because most of them have electronic kits but I go over the basics of tuning drums with my students that have acoustic kits and that are interested in learning, I normally bring it up when we've got an extra 10-15 minutes at the end of a lesson I don't do an entire lesson on tuning just because I feel like that's kind of a wasted lesson for them UNLESS they ask for an entire lesson on tuning!
