Hi,

I'm in a position of a trade, where I can choose between a Tama King Beat and a Yamaha SD 755 MD snare drum. Both 14x5 or 5.5.

Which one is the higher quality one?

Thanks.
JR

Something doesn't look quite right with the strainer on the Yamaha. Maybe just the photo angle, but the tension adjustment knob looks bent. Also, although the snares on the Yamaha are extended, it's not a true parallel throw-off. The Tama looks like it's in better shape, it has nice diecast hoops and a true parallel strainer system. I'm a UUUUUUGE Yamaha fan, but just based on the pics and features alone, I'm going with the Tama on this shootout.

Thanks, folks! I’m gonna go with the Tama.
Here’s a snare drum I already own. Where in the jungle would this one be?

If you're doing an Export trade for either the Tama or Yamaha, you're getting a much better deal. I have the same Tama snare you posted, not painted black, and it's a great drum. I have fortunately stopped myself from selling it twice over the last decade when I was going through gear purges. It's now a permanent part of the collection.
