Sweetwater has 1,500 employees in one location. Sure, it's physically big ..... but logistically, it's pretty simple. Guitar Center has 10,000 employees scattered around over 40 states ..... including Alaska and Hawaii. A much heavier lift, for GC to adapt from a "walk in customer" business model to an "online" business model. It's more than a simple capital investment when someone else obtains a majority ownership. It may not be a complete buyout, but there's an ownership change. If they needed capital, there are other ways to do it other than an ownership sale.
Nonetheless, here's hoping the continuity of leadership will preserve what we've come to expect from Sweetwater.
