Strength and Feel

I've been getting back into drumming. I've noticed various aches and pains as I regain my skills, however looking in the mirror it is kind of surprising to actually see that I am building muscle, which is good I think but in other ways it sort of changes my feel on the set. It kind of reminds me the way good basketball shooters have trouble with weight lifting messing up their shots. Is there any good exercises for balancing these developments?
