Do you have any sound samples? I'm following this to get more ideas- I sorta-posed this question here.

I haven't personally tried this (and only would with cheap and/or busted cymbals... Not that I break cymbals anyway lol) but I've read about, seen, and heard successful stacks where the user took 2-3 cymbals, drilled holes, and loosely riveted them together. It certainly adds to the 'trash' and quickness though probably not THAT much vs the same cymbals simply stacked together.

A stack I used to use a lot was a slightly cracked 8" Paiste cup chime (don't ask) and a 6" Zildjian A custom splash. Weird pairing but it was really cool sounding! Would still use it but my setup has been downsized significantly.

I wonder what a thick bell on the bottom with a splash on top would sound like? Those bells have a decent amount of ring to them and may add some 'tone' to the 'trash'
