Song in my head

It seems that for most of my life, there is a background song at the very bottom of my conscious thoughts.

It's always there, I-I-I can't shake it. (not that I want to)

Typically, it's a holdover from what I last listened to. But not always. Right now it's a recording of an original band I was in for a spell. It was a good gig. From 2020 lol.

Sometimes I think of the same song for days on end. Days. On. End.

This is the case with you too, right?

It's not exactly the same for me. It would happen a lot after a 10 hour shift of DJ'ing. I would drive home, song STUCK in my head, always a song I hated to play but was a requested song or something. I would go to bed with the same song stuck, HOURS later. I have a go to song, that I sing to myself that breaks the chain. Sooooo, yeah! We're weird too Larry!! LOL

Always some song,beat or groove in my head! it’s not just me lol !

And yes , I have a few brain palette cleansing songs !
SRV life by the drop is one of my go to’s . Like lemon sorbet for the grey matter .

I have this affliction…my wife says I’ve “got a song for everything…” Just a word or turn of phrase can set me off. I tend to get stuck on one song that I sing over and over again for days on end…my current song of choice is a-ha “I’ve Been Losing You”, but last week it was Kansas “Dust in the Wind”…it’s completely random and I need help!!

At times it is a curse. There is no help, short of controlling your own thoughts. If I could swap that ability for something like oh I don't know, making passive income for instance...I'd have a lot more money lol. It's all go and no stop. Between that and my RAGING tinnitus, there's no peace in my head, ever lol.

it is usually some somg I am learning for one of the bands I am in

my go to mental zone out songs are usually older prog metal songs...often times Queensryche stuff form Mindcrime or Rage For Order

my "mental cleansing" song is usually Subdivisions by Rush...or anything else by Rush

Yep, earworms all the time. If I listen to the song, it usually clears it from my head. I get them because the song in my head gets stuck when I cant remember part of it. Then it gets stuck on a loop to that point.

I have OCD. There are points when something weighs heavy on my mind and then I obsess about it and cant make that stop, like a song. Only it's the thing that comes to the forefront and repeats endlessly. When this happens I cant sleep, and my concentration all but shuts down. I dont know how to make this stop, it just kinda dies out after time.

Doesn't work for me. All it does is replacing one annyoing song with two annoying songs.

I just accept and actually embrace it and oddly that makes it dissipate faster . I don’t fight it .

Not a different song. If Sledgehammer is stuck in my head, only Sledgehammer will remove it.
