Sometimes I can be nice

We’ve had our house on the market for a little while, and it finally sold last week, and taking that Ddrum Diablo 7 pc kit with the giant twin bass drums to the new place 8 hours away seemed like a good idea until that moment. Trying to sell it in a month would require me to take a beating, and I don’t have any time for taking a beating.

So my neighbor has a kid in college who plays music and built his own home studio, and he’s been wanting a house kit. He won’t be getting the greatest kit ever made, but even though the snare blows, the toms and basses kick much ass.

Don’t want to toot my own horn, but that was a darn nice thing I did!

You have been visited by the Good Karma Fairy. At some point in the near future, there will be a parking spot right in from of the place you are going, someone who owes you a favor will remember and get in touch, and you will find a twenty dollar bill in the pocket of an old coat.

I have an old Peavey 8-channel PA head that's been sitting in my shed for years, unused. I'm going to give it to those college kids I played with last week, and I've fixed them up with used PA speakers, stands and cables for about $250 from the local mom & pop music store. They have to pay for the speakers, stands and cables, but the head is a gift. It's doing me no good sitting in the shed.

Good on you, Jimmy. We need less threads about collecting, and more about donating. If you have the means, pass along whatever you can to your local schools, music camps, music venues, any musicians in need, etc. It can make a huge difference in the life of a musician(s).

awesome idea!!!

in my time, i have found 6 drum sets sitting near dumpsters/on the curb etc, grabbed them up, rehabbed them, and then given them to students who probably could not have afforded one. It is crazy what people will throw away sometimes. One guy gave me a set out of his garage becasue "it was 'destroyed' "...all it needed was new heads, and some cleaning. It was a Pacific Drums kit.

Good going! That was a kind thing to do!

I completely understand you giving away that kit.

About 4 years ago we downsized and moved to our current house. We'd lived in the old one for about 20 years and had accumulated so much stuff. A lot of the stuff I sold, but after a while, we just started giving it away. In my case, it was mostly for convenience. In your case, I think you had higher motivations. Well done, Sir.

"Tell the truth Jimmy after unloading the drums to his basement and shaking hands you backed out of the driveway and ran over his mailbox"

😁 !!kidding kidding !

I appreciate the benefit of the doubt :). But it would cost more in time, boxes and space on the truck, but giving it away to someone who could actually use it and appreciate it was paramount as well.
