How does Steve Jordan get his snare to sound the way it does? And what are those weird hoops that he puts on his drums?

I don't have the time to listen to any of his recordings right now, but I assume it is a compound sound between: His snare itself, tuning, heads, and audio enhancement.

In other words, pretty much the way everyone else in recording gets their snare to sound like.

He's got it tuned high with no dampening, one of the clips I watched every 2 & 4 on the snare are rimshots as well.

The wood hoops are just wood hoops. You can buy them anywhere.
