Snare stand won't go low enough?

I got a new 6.5" snare and it turns out I can barely get it low enough for my liking. I don't think I have it crazy low or anything either. If I had gotten the 8" snare I'd be out of luck. I wonder if I'm doing something wrong, or if this is a known thing. I bought this Tama snare stand a little while ago thinking it was a really nice one that I'd use forever:

You may have to get a low snare stand. People who use 8" or deeper snares often have to use them.

Plus, individual models haves different height adjustments. I have a Pearl stand and a Yamaha stand, and the Yamaha adjusts lower, though they are both "standard" models.

My Gibraltar 8706 has 5" spare on the stalk with 6.5" snare and 22" throne height. Fantastic stand that packs up nice

I just went ahead and modified a snare stand to go lower by cutting the tubes.
True, but In some models (like his Tama shown in his pic), this won't work as he has run out of room at the collar (the piece that sits on top of that inner tube). He can't lower that tube past that collar.
Gibraltar stands go quite low.

Finding a stand with an "offset" basket like the one pictured below helps it go lower (the basket doesn't have the tube directly underneath it). The stand in the picture is a "Sound Percussion Velocity" model and it's currently on sale at Musician's Friend for $45.49.

If you cut the outer tube shorter, as well as the bottom of the inner tube it can go lower. It wont fold up at all, but there looks to be about 3 to 4" or so of tube that can be cut.

I certainly wouldnt do it to that particular stand. I would get a used stand to cut. The stand I modified is one of 3 I have, and not my main snare basket.

The Tama HS80LOW is the ticket.

OP-how low do you sit? I have almost the same issue with my 6.5" snare and a Yamaha stand, the snare is comfortable for me but the stand is as low as it can go- but apparently I sit low. If you don't sit low the Yamaha 700-series snare stand could work for you.

I could measure, but I don't think I'm crazy low, like thighs horizontal basically. I'm getting by now, but if I had my way I might go half an inch lower with the snare. I could get that by flattening out the stand legs a bit, but I haven't bothered yet.

I sit as low as my throne will go because of my extremely short legs (and I'm still sitting at a nice angle). I also play 6.5" and 7" deep snares. I use a Pearl SS830 snare stand; I also own a Yamaha SS-740 snare stand which has an offset basket. Both go low enough for my purposes, but if I wanted to go super low, I can pair the Pearl tripod (which is shorter than the Yamaha tripod) with the Yamaha basket (which is offset). With this combo I can almost get the rim of my 7" deep snare as low as my throne seat lowered all the way.
