Sizes that time forgot?

Pretty sure Trad depth bass drums made a comeback when exactly is too long ago to remember;
14" depth bass drums for a long time were reserved for upper lines until they figured out they would sell very well in lower lines too without taking away too many sales from upper lines..

I imagine it's harder to find a new 14 x 22" bass drum than a case for one.
I googled and found many stores selling the Protection Racket 14 x 22" case.
I can't think of any drum sizes that 'time forgot'. Although yes, I imagine a 14" deep bass drum is one of the least popular sizes in modern retail.

Anyways, Road Runner cases are not great, even for the cheap price.

I treat bags more like dust covers. As long as it zips, unzips, and doesn't disintegrate while sitting on a shelf, it's fine. I use Beato when I need more protection.

I had a 15" snare drum (I think it was a Ludwig Supralite?) on my wishlist several years ago but apparently it is not for sale anymore.
It probably would not be the most convenient snare to get new heads and wires for anyway.

For a while I had a BD bag that was a few inches deeper than the drum, so I put my whole cymbal bag in there.
I have several Protection Racket bags which always seem oversized and could also shove the cymbal and stick bag and other items in it.

Didn't Vinnie move to the 14x22?.

I assumed Bermuda was a Ludwig artist; just pick up the phone and they'd arrive 3 days later in his drive way
whats this world come too

Ya know jda..ive been thinking alot about Bermuda lately and how Weird Al was frikkin huge for alot of years...and years!. Bermuda is humble and takes a back seat alot...but as a kid I remember the band walking up for awards many times while I'm thinking Weird Al is the bomb. Thinking back He was bigger than most realize.

It’s good for the bag to have a little extra room for a sandwich or something.
The late Louie Bellson once did a drum clinic at the store I was working on.

He came with his own drum set (he didn't use a store-provided kit like most drummers do). And he used a canister thrown.

After he was set up, he opened up his canister thrown, and pulled out a sandwich!

He took his sandwich and disappeared until it was time to go on.

15" snare drums aren't the norm and not many companies offer them outside of marching and symphonic use.

Who knows, if drummers are using 16 and 17" hi-hats now maybe these will return??

Thanks, and actually Al (& the band) have continued to grow, even with the last album being from 2014. 2025 is shaping up to be a pretty special tour, can't say more about it right now. :)

Was that the inspiration for your forum name? :p

Cool! I think it is awesome you built a career by making music and are still rocking on.
I see a lot of people working jobs they hate, just waiting for retirement.
What a waste of time, life is short, go do something you enjoy!

@Chris Whitten
My previous post applies to you as well.
I may have 'a proper job' (whatever that means) which pays fairly decent but I don't wish you all the (personnel) BS I have to deal with on a daily basis.
Let alone my last holiday was in 2014. I'm not complaining though, I let it happen myself.
