1983 Tama Mastercraft Steel 6.5X14. Bought new in 1983 for $162.00

Tama made some nice stuff back then.
Now everything seems to be more about fashion.
I owned one of those and sold it.
It's a classic that very few drum companies can match these days.
Probably would go in the $K range these days retail given the price point of the new Dynasonic brass snares.
Spun one piece steel shell ,nice extended throw mech and great chrome job.

Yeah they don’t make them like this anymore with the extended wire

The two most recent additions, first up the unique 14x7.25 Oriollo Bellmaker. It's the only one in this size (unless Vukan has made another in the last couple of months), sand cast bronze.

Second is a strange beast. Its a single ply maple Tama drum with 11 lugs on the batter side and 10 on the snare side, which is why is looks all out of kilter and strange. I saw it on eBay when it had 8 very nice double ended turned brass lugs on it, presumably because the original single point Tama lugs that were on these and some of the piccolos were notoriously fragile and broke as soon as any tension was put on them. I could tell it was an 11 lug drum from the giveaway filled holes on the pic.

As it had been a little butchered anyway and I wanted it to work reliably it's now got short tubes on it. Seeing as I am more likely to become Pope than find an original 11 lug Tama hoop it has a Starphonic top rim and claws.

Sounds wonderful, looks ...... confused somehow!

Gretsch 4160 cob with badge #2 “That Great Gretsch Sound”, during transition guessing 72-75ish.
Note the lightning righty throw with the 4 point micro sensitive butt plate not sure why they use this as opposed to the 2 point smaller butt plate, prior to using the ‘fishtail’ butt plate.
I’d be interested in the history.
