show off your snare

Yes, the holes are spaces that were left out during build time, nothing drilled. The legos themselves were around 120 EUR or so and then with the hardware and other parts (lugs, rods, hoops, strainer, heads) it came out to ~300 EUR or so + 2-3 hours of build time.

Actually, there is a video on YouTube of a guy who built an entire drum kit out of Lego:

I'm currently very happy with that snare, it has now been through quite a few practice sessions and two gigs since May and is holding up very well. No issues, nothing failed, nothing broke. It's now my main snare for the time being.
Lego snare....
DW adds creative marketing...
That will be £2000 please....

As long as they funnel some of that nice and shiny marketing money into my pockets, I'd be fine with that...

Lego snare....
DW adds creative marketing...and really fugly/funky color scheme
That will be £2000 please....

FIFY!!!!!

It isn’t made from Legos, wasn’t $2K and isn’t a fugly color scheme (in my opinion, anyway). It is a DW, however. It’s a shame the brand has become the de facto whipping boy on most drum fora.

This is my bamboo 5.5x14 snare. I used to own a Yamaha bamboo snare probably fifteen years ago and loved it. Can’t remember why I let that one get away but I consider this one a get back of sorts. I’m down to two regular-use snares and this bamboo sees the bulk of that work.

Back when I was building bows, I wanted to make one from bamboo but never got around to it. It's an amazing material. My buddy had a bamboo longbow that was absolutely the smoothest-shooting I ever tried.

I'd imagine it's equally suited as a drum material. 😊

My personal 5.5x14 Hovland true solid walnut Suspension Series™️ snare with aluminum hardware and aluminum Bell Ringer™️ hoops. Finishing another one the same size for myself today but with a true solid cherry shell. I'll post a photo of it when it's done. ✌️❤️ and drums!

I get it. I really do. Those type of posts for me are the equivalent of another “The Money Beat Is King” post for you, or the “You’re set up backwards” posts when a lefty posts a pic. After the thirteen millionth time, it’s kinda lost its humor. As sure as the sun rises and sets, however, we can expect another salvo of them soon.

Sold off some snares and picked this up, a Tama 50th Anniversary Rosewood 6.5”x14”.
Just curious as I am a guitar player ( that likes it 'here,' learning about drums) and rosewood is a big deal, with acoustic guitars.
And solid woods vs. laminated in construction is also a big deal. (I personally don't care if it sounds good- I have a mix of everything on my acoustics...)

Is the wood used in your snare drum all rosewood, or is it laminated with layers/plies of other woods?
If it is all Rosewood, is it laminated sheets, or say solid, heat-treated 'bent' pieces to form a solid shell? If you know.
It looks beautiful!

As I said just trying to compare drum construction w/guitar.
Thanks!

Maybe a nice maple snare drum would round out this stable of workhorses.
- LM402 6.5x14 (2022)
- Brass 6.5×14 (ca. 2010)
- LM400 5x14 (1972)
- Musashi Oak 6.5x13 (ca.2008)
That's very similar to mine. I have a brass rocker and a 70s supra But my 6 and a 1/2 is a current BB And my Yamaha is a 88 model tour custom.
