show off your snare

My very humble snare collection.

The bottom drum came with my Slingerland Stage Band kit purchased new circa 1975. 5.5x14 3 ply (I think). It needs a cleaning desperately.

The next one up came with my Yamaha Stage Custom kit. 5.5x14. I bought them used a couple of years ago and is circa 2000.

The next up chrome snare is a 5.5x14 Pearl Sensitone that I snagged for $50, also a couple years ago.

The top one is a 3x13 brass Pearl Piccolo snare that I bought about a year ago.

I’m considering driving a couple hours to pick up a 6.5x14 Pearl Sensitone to round out my collection.

I’m just an amateur and this mix of snares would cover any situation I could imagine.

This just arrived yesterday. Pearl Masters maple 6.5 x 14 10-lugs. I’m already in love with how it sounds.

Here is my new Mapex Black Panther Venom snare drum that will go with my Saturn kit. Peace and goodwill.

Been awhile since I’ve posted in this thread. These two snares have been going to all my jobs for the last six months or so. A nice contrast in sounds. 6.5x14 titanium and 5.5x14 rubber tree wood (aka Siam Oak) stave-shell.

The titanium drum sounds like a more polite 402 and prefers medium to low tension. The stave drum is very sensitive and somewhat dry sounding, like a really crisp conga slap sound. Dig the thickness of the stave shell.

10 X 4 Baked Beans Snare.View attachment 142025
I am surprised by the numerous responses to my "Baked Bean SN."
Thanks guys. So....it's made from an aluminum alloy cooking pot....from a well-known second hand store. They don't make baked bean pots in a drumhead friendly size...Thus the lug shims. It actually sounds just right for the size except.....it has volume to 11.
Thanks for watching. I did a cook-pot-tom too.

here is my 62 Supraphonic; inherited from my dad; everything on it except for the heads and the batter rim is original. I still have the original rim, but wanted to save it from the wear and tear of me using it, and I still have the original Ludwig Weathermaster heads from when he bought it
