Currently my main snare is my 14x6.5" Ludwig Supraphonic, but it gets swapped out frequently with my 13x5.75" Sonor Greb snare.

I also have a 12x5" Sonor 125th Anniversary Maple Snare, 14x6" Tama Warlord Masai (which is used just as much as my main two, I just haven't put it on the kit in a while), and a 14x6.5" C&C Maple snare.

It's wonderful to have this many options!

The only drums I'd love to add to this collection would be a 14x5" Ludwig Black Beauty, and some sort of 14x8" snare. Maybe like a Dunnett titanium or a Jeff Ocletree Bronze something crazy like that.

Love the finish, size, and tone-woods of that cherry pie. Congratulations!

DW Collector's Series, 6.5x14 Black Nickel over Brass w/Chrome HW, though you wouldn't know it by the rich gold hue it casts under certain light.

The sound this drum produces is insane! It's deafening loud, crisp and throaty, and compared to all other snare drums I have owned and played in my day (all 5.5x14 versions), none came even close to competing with what this drum offers!

Kudos to DW!

Hi there, Thunder 42! Appreciate your response!

For now I'm rolling with the stock heads the drum came with. DW clear snare bottom head (by Remo), and DW coated-batter head also by Remo.

I'm not savvy when it comes to drum heads, so if you know a good starting point for me, by all means, point me in the general direction I need to go. I'd be grateful for whatever advice you or any other members may have.

That is a beautiful drum. I have no advice if you like the sound. Congrats again on your beautiful snare.
