Now that's what I'm talking about!

Don't own a Ludwig kit yet but I hope to someday. Got me some great sounding Supraphonics though and thought I'd share the love. :)

I love them all!

I bought myself a Superphonic LM402 for Christmas and I just absolutely love it! I love what it looks like and I love the sound of that crispy snap!received_1382671445896927.jpeg

so I have been told that Supras were not made before 62....? I have the snare drum from my dads 55 set, which looks exactly like a COB Supra, but again was told it isn't...does anyone know the truth?

I have no knowledge of that but I just wanted to say you're one blest man to still have your dad's snare drum.

I was just a little too late to get my dad's entire kit. My brother sold it to my cousin who also is a drummer and I wasn't a drummer until after it was sold. I would give anything just to get my Dad' snare drum. The heads were calfskins and tacked on to the drums.

It looks like pre serial Super 400 COB. If it has crimped snare beds and the inside shell flange is turned in. It would be that.. Would also be heavier than a Supra.. Baseball Bat muffler? I'd say '61 '62. but I'm no expert.. If you notice on my drums between the '59 and '60 the mufflers are in different positions and the throw offs and butt are in different positions as well. your drum is arranged like the '60.. with a baseball bat instead of a knob.. Having your Dad's drum is way cool!

thanks people!!! I have his whole kit. Drums, cymbals (50's era Zildjian A's), hardware, Speed King Pedal...I even still have the original heads that came with all of them. Have posted pics before, but here it is again for simple reference

and yeah...there is no serial number on the badge. It is possible that he got the snare after getting the rest of the drums b/c he had a student level snare first. And it is pretty heavy. Thanks for your info as well

I wasn't using the original cymbals for this gig b/c of the sound in the shelter house, but I use them at home

Some great collections here! You all have way more than me, but my set does have swagger ;)

I’ll post them in the next post, but since this is the bottom of a page, I’m going to post the preamble so my drums are at the top of the next page…Bwahahahaha!!!
