Thanks, @eric_B!Cool recording!
The kick sounds great, deep and punchy, what kind was it?
Great, thanks for the info! Thanks, @eric_B!
That’s my 10” depth X 20” diameter “baby kick” I use for all my small venue gigs. DW 333 (9-ply with no reinforcement rings). I’m using an Evans Hydraulic batter head + DW coated single ply reso (no port), with stock DW pillows touching each head.
For sound reinforcement, I’m using an Audix D6 mic on the batter side, pointed at the beater impact point about 3 inches away. I’m also triggering a short 808 kick sound using a Roland kick trigger running through a Roland TM-1 module.
Yessir, it sure does. Most of my gigs are part of a duo outfit (keys/vox + drums), and the 808 sub sound really helps fill out the bottom end in the sparse musical landscape of our duo. We did have a guitarist on this gig as well, but we’re all so used to the 808 sound now that I just use it at every gig.Great, thanks for the info!
(I bet) the 808 'beefs up' the sound nicely.
