To me Elvis was great his first year. Then someone told him "You can sing man!" and he foresake rock and roll to be his generations Frank Sinatra. Little Richard however was a giant and influenced millions. Same for Chuck Berry and Fats Domino. I still think had Richie Valens not died so young he would have been a huge influence. Little as I remember hearing his "people" backstage call him was a nice man. Kind and caring. Love you Little.
Most of the time I’m glad to have been born in the mid-70s. But I would have loved to lived through the 40s and 50s, and hear “Miss Molly” for the first time. That must have been incredible. It’s just not the same having grown up in the 70s and 80s, and hearing it. Probably a lot like hearing Beethoven’s 7th Symphony, or Berlioz Symphonie Fantastique back in the early 1800s. Life-changing, stunning, utterly unforgettable.
My hat is off to Mr. Penniman. I hope he reincarnates soon, and creates another whole new genre again. LOL
