Premier 1005 snare drum restoration

This was a neglected item in the back corner of the same store where I purchased the Pearl 1st Gen Export drum. This one needed much less rust pitting removal, except there was a spot on the bottom hoop that was so bad that I just replaced it. The internal muffler still worked but was dusty & crusty, so it was very difficult to tighten onto the batter head; after cleaning and adding a nylon washer, it's good as new. It was missing a strainer tension adjustment screw/knob (it still functioned but tension was only adjustable by tightening the cord) that took a while to find. I spend a lot of outdoor recreation time during the warm months so I wasn't hurrying.

It looks much better. May it give you years of musical joy. Peace and goodwill.

I’ve had about a dozen of them and changed up the configuration from time to time. My main one has die cast hoops and Inde strainer and butt

Die cast hoops really improve the sound and remove a lot of the ring. Really upgrades the snare.
