A dentist's office entertainer!! Splendid. Wish I'd thought of that. Collins has his place and has provided a lot of good playing. Same with Mick Fleetwood whom I feel plays very well to the song at hand.I'd say he's an all-time great as far as rock/pop drumming goes. His work with Genesis is splendid. As for his solo recordings, I'm not much of a fan. When he broke out on his own, he somewhat became a dentist's office entertainer.

I'm a fan of Collin's drumming much more than his solo career as a singer. In fact, I much prefer his instrumental endeavors like the long intsrumentals that he did with Genesis and his stint with Brand X. In other words I'm a big fan of Phil Collins the drummer and not much of a fan of Phil Collins the pop star.
It’s actually pretty challenging to drum and sing at the same time. I’ve been working on a Beatles tribute band, singing from behind the kit, and it’s not easy.
and I think he was unfairly the poster boy of everything wrong with 80s pop music.
