Pearl president series

Kidding aside - your snare is truly beautiful.
Thanks very much. It's a first-rate instrument. And the walnut shell has amazing tonality. I have zero regrets about investing in it.
I'm in the same boat with Gretsch and their Renown series - I know they are made overseas to Gretsch spec, but they're freaking killer regardless.
Good drums are good drums. To me, where they're made is mostly trivial. A bad shell isn't improved by orginating in America, just as a good one isn't degraded by coming from elsewhere. That's my philosophy, at least.

Fancy luan shells have certainly gone up in price. I'm seeing a 3pc here for $1599 on this president series

However, a C&C Player Date 1 (100% Luan) cost ~$1350 in 2012...I see the same kit now going for $3000-3200.
C&C Player Dates were around $1,600 2 years ago. They've doubled in price in less than 2 years.

According to Pearl, the shell itself was steambent in Nashville, crafted by a single artisan from start to finish, who signed the shell's interior upon completion. By "imparted parts," I presume you means hoops, lugs, and so on. If so, and that status troubles you, don't buy one. I'm not bothered by imported parts in the least. Also, my other Pearl drums were all made overseas. I like them just as much as my Music City Custom snare. Pearl could manufacture every product on another planet and I'd be just as faithful a patron, so long as quality didn't falter.
This refers to the Music City Custom series, not to Music City Custom USA Snares. Please perform appropriate research instead of promulgating misinformation.

A message from Pearl Corporation to our very own @Winston_Wolf, a highly reliable member who posted the following to another thread on Music City Custom USA Solid Shell Snares:

Dear (Winston_Wolf)
Thank you for your email. The MCC USA Made Solid shell snare drums are manufactured and steam bent here in the US. That is why the line carries Made in the USA on the tags.
Hope this answers your question.

I've confirmed this as well in discussions with the Nashville office. Care to do it yourself?

Do they make sets here in the U.S. in the MCC line?

Odd to me, after this conversation.

It’s simply not just replicated, they are brought back out, not sure of the same mold or a slightly modern one, but reinforced with today’s technology.

I’m normally a bit suspect of rail mounts but this is from Pearl and it’s new.

Yep, back in the day, the Luan or Philippine Mahog recipe worked for Cope with his Imperialstars, no one’s complaining about his early sound…
Weren’t Tamas Imperialstars back on the 70s simply a birch shell with a coating and a wrap finish? That’s what I always thought they were, since I actually owned a Superstar from the same era.

I’m starting to regret bringing this thread back to life when I was considering buying the President kit last week. 😂

I think I’m looking at Ludwigs now…
Yep look forward to another post to help choose your kit.

You tell us since you owned a Superstar.

Nah, on second thought, here you go.

There was also a wood composite pulp-like material molded into a shell Tama line. There have been a few for sale recently on Reverb referring to the composite.

That’s great, I could CARE less where anything is manufactured from, tell @Darth Vater where the Star line is from again?
I put up the banjo boy GIF just for you! :ROFLMAO:

I buy quality. Usually when it's on sale. I'm not a fanboi. I've owned just about every major brand out there, except for Pearl. I don't like their tom arms and I can't figure out their nomenclature. "Music City Custom Absolute Reference Pure Master Blaster..........what?????????"

Really?? Wow
I think C&C kit prices have gone up more than any other brand. Doubled in about 18-24 months from what I see. Either they were way underpriced in 2020 and their profit margins were too low then, or else they're trying to survive and make up lost revenue now.
