Pearl president series

Not sure about grades, though I know there’s various recipes.

As for Pearl they spent years making stencil kits before they came out with their own.

The way I look at it, they refined something to make them want to put out their first Pearl kit which were the President series, I believe 6 ply.

Which is very different sound as an open 3 ply maple.

It’s really more marketing to their MIJ heritage.

Great contribution!
Look whose come out of the woodwork - Darth parks his cars outside and his drum kit in the garage, does your $$$ kit ever get to go inside the house, and are you allowed to join it?
You cray cray! I have a nice garage for my car. Drum kits are in my nice cozy studio.

Marketing to their MIJ heritage? That ship has sailed. :ROFLMAO:

Darth banjo boy - your latest flame Tama was lesser stenciled Star kit start off.
Please quit with the sovereignty crap.

Tama has botched their heritage or what they had, maybe it was a glaring omission and completely went another way.

Tama - holding things up 1 stand at a time…

At least the Tama Star are still made in Japan unlike anything made by Pearl

Dark roast!

But us Tama fanbois won’t let go. Their product is just too good to leave for another.

Pearl still manufacture in Japan, or have I missed something?

Granted they make some lines in China - just like Tama.

Pearl makes no drum sets in Japan - the Masterworks was moved to Taiwan years ago . Look at the labels or badges the next time you in a drum shop . I was very surprised to see a Made in Taiwan label in a Masterwork kit .

Hmm, didn't know that. Thought their top shelf stuff was still made in Japan.

That’s great, I could CARE less where anything is manufactured from, tell @Darth Vater where the Star line is from again?
I am sure he is well aware the Tama Star are made in Japan . They still make some Starclassic drums in Japan but they have a 25% up charge for the made in Japan Starclassic .

Pearls headquarters are in Japan, and if your shocked over a tag showing foreign manufacturers homeland, that’s almost as shallow.

You guys act like making drums has to come from the New England battlefields or something…

Yes "Crafted" as in bearing edges, holes drilled and assembled. But made with imported parts as seen on the inside sticker. Like everything, including the shell it was made overseas.
According to Pearl, the shell itself was steambent in Nashville, crafted by a single artisan from start to finish, who signed the shell's interior upon completion. By "imparted parts," I presume you means hoops, lugs, and so on. If so, and that status troubles you, don't buy one. I'm not bothered by imported parts in the least. Also, my other Pearl drums were all made overseas. I like them just as much as my Music City Custom snare. Pearl could manufacture every product on another planet and I'd be just as faithful a patron, so long as quality didn't falter.

I just assumed Pearl shells just sort of washed up on shore and were harvested once whatever lived inside them long died.

People intentionally make those?

(ok ok ok, sorry had to)

If that's true, point me in the direction of Pearl Beach. I'll set up a hut and fish for drums all day. :D

Kidding aside - your snare is truly beautiful.

I'm in the same boat with Gretsch and their Renown series - I know they are made overseas to Gretsch spec, but they're freaking killer regardless.

The brochure you've posted refers to the Music City Custom series, not to Music City Custom USA Snares. Please perform appropriate research instead of promulgating misinformation.

Same with Tama Superstar and Starclassic - exceptionally well made drums. The $700 I spent on a Superstar bop kit was a great purchase. High quality build looks good sounds good and very lite. Great loading and out for gigs.
