I think its early 70's based on the lugs and badges.
I have a blue onyx pearl kit like this, but the lugs are rounded at one end, dating mine as 1968-9. Mine also has different badges - metal writing in capital letters with no backing plate.
My 4514 14" x 5.5" steel snare has the same lugs and a similar badge. Yours might be a "non-warping 9-plywood hardshell" 2314 (8-tension). The closest picture I found was from the 1969 catalog.
Wow, that's the same color as my Pearl kit, which was my second kit, a Pearl double base from 1970?. They were "claimed" fiberglass shells, but they just looked like some kind of composite. At the time I had a Slingerland snare, so I didn't have the matching snare.
Thanks, saw that catalog. Strainer is indeed as per the 9-ply version, but mine only has 6 lugs. Either way I now know roughly when it must have been made.
