Not a solo, but a cover.

I haven't recorded a *good* solo with my new cymbals yet (although I have recorded a few bad ones), but today I did a decent cover of "The Rock Show" by blink 182, where you can kind of hear how they sound.

And by now, I am totally used to the sound, and love them.

Wow man! Those cymbals really are AWESOME!

Your playing has come a very long way!
You do seem to be struggling to keep up very slightly throughout most of the song, but I think if you chose a slightly slower song we would definitely your skills shining through :)

They cymbals sound awesome in this recording.
Did you just use a camera?

Yeah, they do=D And I just used a camera...usually, I use my trusty Flip Video, but this time I recorded with my JVC Everio GZ-MG555. Too bad I forgot to switch it to widescreen setting...

Yes, and thank you! I've even started to take lessons.

But dude, this song is KILLER fast. Like, especially the bass pattern, which is very hard to do on such a crappy pedal with a crappy head. Once I get my Superkick II and save up for a DW 9000 or something, I'll be flying.

very nice set up i like the A's very much... but for some constructive criticism your hands are a wee bit too far back on the sticks (just saying ) but otherwise very nice and I'm very jealous of the A's

Those PST's seem to fit it well with your new A's.

I like to think they do, but I've never really had any other cymbals, so I wouldn't know for sure.

You're serious? I just started taking lessons, and my teacher pointed out that my grip was too HIGH on the stick. Ever since, I've been trying to keep my hands lower...

And my ego thanks you for being jealous.

You have definitely come along way since you first joined the site. You should practice on something with a slower hi hat pattern and a completely independent right foot.

Did you ever try that Under A Glass Moon groove I sent you?

If you can nail that offset snare, you're golden.

Actually, I am working on stuff like that with my instructor. But yes, I can play the Glass Moon thing...it's pretty easy, haha. But I just got the book The Funky Primer in the mail, as well as Stick Control.

Stick Control looks incredibly boring, but The Funky Primer looks pretty cool. Like it says, some of the beats in there are pretty funky.

And my next drum cover will DEFINITELY be a slower song. I like covering pure pop songs (even though I HATE listening to them) because it's easy to improvise on top of them without losing the beat.

I never thought I would say this, but I think your drumming kicks ass! You've really come a long way since your first babysteps on DW. You have potential to be a great drummer.

good job. Definitely gotten a ton better, like a LOT better. And im definitely getting some new beats as my next pair o' hats.

and I'd really like to see you do some groovin' on this akon song:

Haha yeah I definetely recommend the New Beats. But akon...maybe.

Wow, what a complement. Thank you...I hope you'll subscribe to me on Youtube so you can see me progress. I'm in the process of recording several other drum covers...

You are holding the drumsticks too far back. Choke up on the stick more. Put your fulcrum about 1/3 up the stick.

Those cymbals sound pretty good man. Good job....learn Adam's Song if you want to play along with blink-182. Fun beat, easy to learn.

That song has lots of splash and china hits, I don't think I could memorize all of those=D

Plus, I like to mix it up a bit with the artists...I'm working on a drum cover of the song "Pop" after being inspired by Cobus. I know, it's NSYNC, but it's a super-fun time to drum to.

Check out Cobus playing it: May be showy, but still amazing. And at 0:50...woah!

Hah, well have fun with that....

I don't mean to sound pushy, but IF you were ever interested, give this video a shot....This guy explains it pretty well.
