New Renown Finishes

^^ That version of the video was Unlisted because it "contained a small error".

This is the re-uploaded version...

These new finishes are a great sign of the health of the Renown series. They must be selling well. (as they should be!)

How original

This series really need a 22x14 kick. Let's end the reign of the 22x18 kick, it had a good run. It didn't bring anything to the table beside taking up more space.
Here's a video from two months ago featuring Renown in red sparkle (?) with 14x22 kick!

I'm starting to be convinced that the best mid-level to pro-quality drum sets under $2K are the Renowns and Yamaha Tour Customs. Tama Starclassic Birch-Walnut is close behind, but it is more expensive than Renowns and TCs. The quality you get from the Renowns and TCs at their price just cannot be beat. DW Design might come close, but their size options can't compete with Renown and TCs.

The only complaint I have heard about the Renowns from folks here is that they are quite heavy.

We're lucky also to get to choose drumkits with very different sound profiles. At this price range, the drumkits I have come across are all really good. Some come with better hardware, but otherwise it really comes down to what sound characteristics one looks for in the drums.

That's the Sweetwater exclusive Burnt orange sparkle
it's the only config that comes 1up 2 down with a 22x14.
I want one but they won't ship it to the UK:cautious:

For some reason, Gretsch in Champagne Sparkle looks cheap to me. Could be the first generation Cat Clubs, which probably aren't bad but looked a bit cheap. Fortunately Renowns don't come in Square Badges like those Cats, but I actually prefer Square Badges with some finishes (mostly non-wrapped).
I wish there could be a Renown in proper Red Sparkle, and 22x14 (and 20x14) bass drum. I'd like to duplicate Phil Collins' natural Gretsch kit, but Red Sparkle looks even better! Speaking of Phil Collins, Piano White is also a classic colour of his.

That looks like the Sweetwater exclusive from a few years back. I came close to ordering one but being in Canada would have made the ordeal very expensive.

Needs to be a regular offering

Tama SC WB does come with a wide selection of finishes though, some of which are just amazing in person (lava burst comes to mind). Also die cast hoops (not for everyone I know) add to the cost, and they have proper Evans heads on the batter side. AND no dumb 22x18 kicks, you can even get them as 22x14 (only in virgin style).

I do appreciate what the Tour Custom is though: function before form. Basic boring finishes, but solid shells with nice hoops and of course Yamaha tom mounts. Also comes with the good heads, and kick is also not 18" long.

Piano white at last ! nice champagne too.
Someone mentioned the black sparkle, that would be sweet.
It's the first time they offer 3 depth snare am I wrong?
Move to a shallower bass drum would be nice too : 22x16.
