I took several one-on-one lessons with Mike at the Drummer's Collective in NYC back in the mid 1980's. Still have all the material he provided me.

Looking forward to checking this out.

I took a look at the book excerpt, and I like the jazz ride patterns in chapter 1. I don't know why, but I think this is the first book that actually puts two bars together to lay out some of the most common jazz ride patterns out there today.

But the pattern #13 on pg21 I'm not sure I understand the value of. It looks like a shuffle pattern with the hihat foot, using the LH on snare to fill linearly, while maintaining the jazz ride pattern on the ride cymbal. I admit I haven't yet tried it, so I don't know for sure the difficulty. But my shin hurts thinking about it. LOL
