New Hi Hat Clutch

Hello Everyone!
I'm new member here and i'm from Italy and sorry if my English isn't very well. I need a new Hi Hat clutch for my Iron Cobra HH905 Hi Hat stand, what are the best clutch on the market. I am a Tama fan because i love their drums and i love the Tama hardware, what do you think of Tama QHC7 Quick set hi hat clutch?
 
By all accounts, the Remo clutch seems to be the most highly regarded for its simplicity and quick release mechanism.

I have the new Tama clutch on my Speed Cobra Lever Glide, and it sucks. On paper it should be a perfect clutch, but it's absolutely not. If you like to have your top cymbal screwed tightly on the clutch, it WILL NOT WORK. You will struggle with it forever, and the quick release will neither attach or release. It's very frustrating.

You have to loosen the cymbal first, or it's worthless. That kinda defeats the purpose of the quick release if it only works with a sloshy top hi hat.
 
I have one and love it. However, like @IBitePrettyHard indicates, it is not designed to clamp the top cymbal rigidly. This doesn’t bother me because I like a bit of slop in my hats. The quick release mechanism is really great, and so simple. I wish they had this design years ago.
 
Thank you guys!, but why this Tama have much more plastic construction? Is expensive and i don't like some plastic parts, the build quality is good?
 
I am surprised to see all the plastic on the Tama QHC7 too.

I bought a Yamaha 1200 hi hat a couple years ago that came with the LC930A clutch and have been very impressed with it. It is designed to eliminate slippage which I hate. I didn't need the quick release type but if I did I would look for an all metal one.

If you don't need Quick release you can check this one out, I like it a lot, especially the rubber sleeve around the middle part so there is no metal to metal contact with your cymbal.

What I dont really like is the red part above the top cymbal which should "maximise the natural resonance". I don't like it's basically two point of contact with a cymbal so depending how the clutch is turned the cymbal either swivel nice... or not :LOL: you can add there a felt so that can be avoided. I'm using it nevertheless just to try out ...
 
I use the REMO one since decades and it’s simple and rigid. I have the Tama quick release one too and I like the quick release part. The two point contact plastic part I’m not convinced of. All the stress maximises in two small points…
 
I understand the lack of trust with the plastic quick release part. However, I’ve used one for about three years now and have not had any cracking or looseness or decay in the part.

The red bit that sits on top of the top cymbal is where a lot of people balk. I did at first, too, thinking it was a joke and that Tama would revert to a felt top but they never did. It prevents a locked-tight top cymbal. No matter how tight you have the clutch, it allows for a bit of play/movement in the top cymbal. I prefer a loose cymbal, but others don’t.

The looseness of the top cymbal was impressed upon me by Steve Smith and his DVD Drumset Technique and the History of the U.S. Beat has an “extra” that shows him fooling around with his hi-hat setup.

 
Now i have this and there is no plastic, is all metal construction but i don't know if the new Tama QHC7 Quick release clutch is more durable and sturdier than old

I bought the Tama 'Sizzle Clutch' Can be a little fiddly but works as it should :)
 
I know you like Tama But the Pearl HCL105QR is awesome.

It's expensive this Cherry hill? My teacher have the Pearl HCL 105 QR but i don't like construction, my old Tama clutch Is more sturdy and heavy than Pearl

Interesting. I own the tama clutch as well but much prefer the Pearl clutch.

Heaviness is nothing something I particular look for. I want it to stay tighter and be quick & easy to change. The weight I want to be less to have easier control of the hats
