New Gretsch Renown Limited Mahogany

Gorgeous looking kit. Not a fan of the size configuration, but what can you do? I bet they sound warm and delicious.

What...no link?..ew..sorry 😳. Reminds me of the Craviotto look. Dig it. Just kidding about the link..had to poke some fun although I didn't see it initially either 😥.

.

It looks like these Renown are philippine mahogany or luan wood.. African mahogany is a selling point and they will always post that ... Where are some modern African Mahogany sets from the last few decades that DID NOT point it out ? . Also, many people on drum forum org contacted Gretsch about this wood source and they WILL NOT respond.

I'm sure they sound good and I don't really care where the wood is from but for them to stay silent on this when prospective buyers are asking is not very cool. .. regardless the price is much too high IMO.

3 Renown drums for $2700 . ..
Or ..... you can spend $7K for these ....... https://www.sweetwater.com/store/de...ary-5-piece-shell-pack-ebony-stardust-lacquer

"To carry on the celebration of 140 years, Gretsch Drums is also offering a Renown Limited Mahogany kit only for 2023."
Gretsch did African Mahogany in their "Purewood" Renown series, and, of course, limited # of kits, (in 22, 10, 12, 14, 16 and 24, 12, 13, 16 configs, I believe). This is a killer kit. 22x14 bass drum !!!!! For everyone that constantly bitches about the Renown 22x18:ROFLMAO:

Wish they identified where the "mahogany" is sourced ...... my "guess" is it's a wide leaf mahogany grown in Asia, somewhere. (as opposed to Philippine Mahogany/Luan). Because they do that. My Yamaha Rock Tours are an Asian grown wide leaf mahogany.

They look great and sound superb in that video clip Gretsch posted.

I am super tempted to pick up a set, along with the 10" tom.

I actually snagged one of these kits yesterday! Found the demo kit used for marketing in the states at a local shop in Nashville (Drum Supply House) for $2150 and felt like that was a very reasonable price including the snare. Just about to get them set up to jam some with my band this afternoon. SOOOOO stoked!

Nice matt! I knew a member here would eventually get this and post some impressions. It’s a very sharp looking kit
