New band drum cam!

Did my official second gig with the Durty Watur Band at a bar & grill in Lake Forest and put the camera house right and pointed it me (the first gig the night before, although great, involved 115-degree heat during set-up, and 100-degree heat when we started three hours later - I wasn’t going to leave my camera in the sun for that one). I apologize that you can’t see the band members faces, but the audio is pretty good for that stereo mic on the Zoom Q2n4k. I recorded video at 720, I should’ve done at least 1080, so excuse the general fuzziness. This gig was inside so this is me on the third set, running at 50% volume so I didn’t obliterate the room. I get to play dynamics with this band 🙂

Nice work and singing! 💪

Heck yeah!!!

"What do you mean `play with more dynamics`? I'm already playing as loud as I can!"

Sounds good, mate!
I was actually cruising at 50% all night with these guys - it was just refreshing not playing as loud as I can all the time. Coming down for verses, maybe shifting gears going into choruses, then overdriving during a solo…..it just feels really musical when I get to do that, and to do it in a rock n roll band, it’s really nice! And my hands and ears aren’t sore at the end of the gig! Crazy talk, I know.

You look comfortable and relaxed - and like you're actually having fun, not "working." That energy is is felt by the audience as well. Good job, Bo!

Thanks. This is the first time a rock band came to me and said they needed a dynamic drummer after losing gigs because their previous drummer played too loud (among his other narcotic problems). But to be honest, when we do get loud, I think I come off as “not so bombastic” because of my thinner cymbals and lower drum tuning which make me blend in better so nobody exhibits those “painful” looks you see because the drummer’s too loud.
