I tried the first version of the Lars Signature snare, it was $450 at the time which was a lot of $$ for me so of course I didn't buy it, but it did sounded great even though it wasn't even tuned.. I also got the first edition of the Lars Ahead sticks (which I still have and still play with) to this day.FWIW, Tama is releasing a 40th Anniversary Lars Ulrich signature drum set. Limited to only 72 kits because the shade of yellow is so unattractive, Sweetwater has it listed at $7,999.99 (USD).
I don't mind the yellow kit but I liked the orange kit a lot more, but as we all know the iconic kit is the white kit from the ONE video/ And Justice For All era.
The first time I saw them he was using the white kit, so that's always going to be the "One" for me. Pun intended.
A black kit you say? I wonder if that was the Camco that he painted.I first saw them on Master of Puppets (with Cliff), and he was actually using a black kit on that tour, but the white kit definitely is imprinted on me as The Kit

Vintage Tama Superstars. A highly underrated line.from what I read, it was a Tama superstar. They had supplied him with 2 kits for that tour.
In BC, with our 12% tax, it’s $13,440 Canadian to take the Bumble Bee kit Home. Nope.FWIW, Tama is releasing a 40th Anniversary Lars Ulrich signature drum set. Limited to only 72 kits because the shade of yellow is so unattractive, Sweetwater has it listed at $7,999.99 (USD).
The Drum Doctors is where i bought my square badge kit. Now I just need a studio with 50 microphones on my kit, and I can get the Black Album sound too!He ruined those Camcos. That's a crime against drums.
Simon Phillips had a big yellow tama in the 90s not sure of the hardware colour. Tambu era I think. Might save you a few quid!
I love the original tama kit where you can see the hole in the bass drum skins isn't perfectly round and there's road wear.
The black album was recorded on a Gretsch kit. These sound amazing

…then went to Ludwig not too long after lol.So it was Neil Peart who connected Lars to Tama and here we are 40 years later..
If you can handle it, watch Lars here:I honestly don't think I've ever heard Lars Ulrich play drums though I do know Tama makes some fine one's esp. the Star series.
Just watched the video. Histrionics and interpersonal conflict isn't my bag. I think I'll pass on this guy.and his group. If you can handle it, watch Lars here:
