i would agree, wraps can look cool sometimes but just the idea of a wrap screams "our budget ran out" cheap to me.
Are the wrapped kits really worth it? I've never liked the idea of wrapped finishes, and, for some unknown reason, Ludwig is offering only wrap finishes for the nice Legacy Classic 3-ply kits (the Exotics have lacquer wood veneers, but not the Legacy Classics).
Great looking stuff--and a capture of Bermuda too!
So Cal Mike, didn't know that was you!

you wouldn't cover a cherry shelby gt500 in a red bull advertising laminant now would you?
I like the wraps mainly because of the durability factor.
I don't have to worry as much taking my kit to a gig, & I like how the wraps look on stage as well.
Who wants to hear "Oopps, sorry" when someone bangs into the side of your bass drum with a $$$$ paint job?
I have lacquer, and wrapped Ludwig drums. Both are VERY resonant.
No wanting of more in any way that's for sure.

Dark fades, and exotic grain aren't going to bee seen by anyone beyond the front row anyway (IMHO), and on some stages, not even in the front row!
There are a few REALLY nice finishes on the Legacy Exotix, and this is really just the first year, there will be more offerings to be sure.
Well, no matter what you dig, there's something for everyone out there. That's the main thing.
Bermuda has the Arctic White Glitter, which is lacquer, I think, but I read elsewhere in a Luddie catalog that it is a veneer finish. What's the difference, and which is it? The Arctic White with the faint sparkle is pretty cool.

Lastly, are sharp 45 degree bearing edges conducive to good, high bebop tunings? I have heard that 45 edges will give you a wider tuning range than the Legacy 30 degree edges.

Are they still using Delmar for the wraps? They look great, the wraps are part of the classic kit. The option for more painted finishes would not be bad though, I do like the Ruby Glitter.
Arctic Glitter is my favorite finish of theirs...it's an exotic paint/lacquer and quite a bit more expensive than a wrap or "natural" finish.

I have the Legacy Classic in Arctic Glitter (lacquer and a clear coat with fine glitter,) and they've got Legacy Exotics which have the veneer (thin ply) of exotic woods, and on the Classic Maple, Arctic Glitter is an exotic finish... so I'm not surprised there's some confusion as a result of the words being used so interchangeably.
