Hello All
When I first joined DW, I had only one snare, since, I have built up a small collection that I would like to share with you all, no Supraphonic in here, at least for now:
Gretsch 4160 COB 5x14 has “That Great Gretsch Sound” badge, this one has a lightning with the righty throw off position, also has a 4 point butt plate, and not the ‘fishtail’. Can anyone tell me if this late 60s early 70s?
Ludwig Blackrolite lm404 5x14, dry and contained crack, rim shots to die for, P-85 ?
Pearl Brass Free Floating 6.5x14 shell loud, cutting, and not as bright as steel, this snare is a looker.
Pearl Crystal Beat Acrylic 6.5x14 shell, sounds a lot like the acrolite but brighter and beefier, not sure if any one has made that comparison.
Olympic by Premier 1005 model 5.5x14 steel snare w/internal muffler, dates 12476 not sure if it’s December or January of ‘76, probably my favorite sounding one of them all.
Vic Firth 3.5x14 10 lug steel student model snare my daughters old snare in Jr. High, not that anyone screaming for these, but this one means the most.
Gretsch Renown 5x14 maple snare, normally equipped with die cast, I have it with 302s, have to say, I prefer the DC hoops they came with.
PDP FS series 5.5x14 snare has birch, the crunchiest snare I have, it belongs to my PDP kit.
Thanks for checking them out.
