Unbelieveable.

26 x 18 BD, 18 x 16 FT, 16 x 16 FT, 13 x 9 RT and 14 x 8 Snare. Along with 5 boom stands, hihat stand, stare stand and DW 9002 Double Bass Pedals. A bag of sticks, a guitar pedal and a cymbal bag filled with 15 AAXelerator Hats, 19 and 20 inch AAX Stage Crashes, a 24 APX ride, a 20 Medium Thin AA Crash, a Wuhan 18 China and finally 15 AA Rock Hats. Oh, and my drum throne!!!!

I got all of this stuff into my little prius. I could move up to the 28 x 20 BD and it will still fit in the prius!! Such an amazing car.

The car is bigger than I though.

Anywy, just though you all should know that you now have no excuse not to have a BIG bass drum. They fit in a Prius!!

Take care guys

i LOVE hatchbacks. anytime i get an enthusiastic roadie wannabe after a gig they always walk outside looking for a suburban when i point them towards my tiny 2000 vw golf gti they are always in shock...

true i only play a 4 piece, but i dont have to change anything in my car. all of my drums fit in the cargo area and the hardware, rug, and cymbal vault in the backseat.

i love my car.

If you don't have the pics, it didn't happen. *wink, wink* :)

Not exactly massive if it can fit in a Prius. I can fit a 9 piece in my HHR, so it is not massive either. Massive is "... can't get the doors closed on a Ford Econoline..."

...mikei.

What kit is this? Last I remember you bought a DW kit. Have I been gone that long?

I just want to thank you for buying a Prius, its saves gas for all the rest of us. Thank You!!

I have been looking at HHR. PM me your thoughts please.

Show us a picture. I want to see your Obama sticker - I hear they come from the factory like that! (just kidding).

I have a PT Cruiser and it will hold my set and even a PA system if I collapse the passenger front seat and remove the back seats. Smaller cars can hold a lot, especially with a hatchback.

I just traded my Dodge Ram for an '08 HHR. Great car, I average 29 mpg between in town & highway. Great little car, a blast to drive but one word of advice- DO NOT buy one that does not have running boards on it, or at least negociate the price downwards to facilitate getting them installed. The gravel & crap off the front wheels blasts the paint off the leading edge of the rear fenders. It's a problem, but Chevy is going to repaint my damaged area although I have to buy the running boards for about $450.00. So just be aware of this, otherwise, go for it, it's a great car.
As far as hauling drums, I have an Astro for that, I'd never cram my drums into a car unless it was an absolute last resort.

thats awesome!

haha

my friend has a Honda Element, and it is perfect for hauling...cause it is like a big box. when you lay the seat down, there is no wheel sticking through the padding, its just flat and big!

gets about 27 to the gallon too...

I bought a 06 HHR in April when my 92 Grand Caravan died. I haven't had any problem with the leading edge of the rear fenders, even without running boards. I think mine might have some small mud flaps on all four tires, though.

The HHR is much smaller than the Grand Caravan, which is sometimes problematic for hauling gear. I got the trailer hitch installed, but I'm still searching for a trailer that's small enough to not overpower the HHR while being big enough to be usable and worth the money.

I like that the seats lay down, providing a huge flat area for loading. Even so, the floor in the back is fairly high up, and all the corners are rounded, making loading problematic. For the last gig, we were able to stuff in 3 people, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, bass, 2x12 guitar amp, 2x12 bass cab, bass head, large guitar pedalboard, amp stand, cymbal bag, kick pedal, snare, throne, and a dozen bottles of water...

I was able to load in my whole new drumset with tons of extra room. I doubt that I could do it with both rear seats up, but maybe with only one of the two seats down I could fit it all in there.

I also learned that you can only fit one dual 15" subwoofer in there... :) All in all, it's not QUITE tall enough or wide enough to fit standard speaker cabs on top of each other (on their sides) or side by side while standing up.

It does, however, get about 30 mpg- more if I dial my speed back to 55 or 60 on the highway. That's a great improvement over the 20 or so in my Grand Caravan (and like 9 toward the end when the transmission was going out). When I'm just hauling my personal gear and not a PA or the whole band, it's totally sufficient for my needs.

LMAO

I will try to get a pic of it today. Hopefully I can.

I bought the car because it saves me money each month with gas (I drive about 45K miles a year), not to be green!!!!

It is a hatchback, so it is great.

You owe me some sticks soon! Vinnie still has the Pearl!

Dang! I forgot about that. What was the deal on that again? I can't find the thread.

Yeah, smaller cars are nice for mileage, even though I only drive about 8,000 miles a year, and you can fit a surprising amount of drum gear into them. I see these obese SUVs on the road and I just laugh at the excessiveness of it. I kind of hope gas goes to $5 a gallon or more just to see them squirm.

The HHR SS is the baddest little car out there 260 hp @ 29 MPG only Chevy.MPG is nice too have especially today but being in a little car you better have something to keep the semi's from running over top of you LOL there preety roomy for the size also.

Nice. You'll be squirming just as bad when milk and everything else at the grocery store doubles in price because of transportation costs.

WOW.. an HHR gets about 30? Is that a 4 cylinder?

My 09 Fit gets only about 30 too but I think my tire pressure is low.

Ok so this reminds me of my youth. I used to get this kit into my first car, a Datsun 510, my second car, a Pinto and my third car, a VW bug. When I upgraded to a 9 piece TAMA granstar custom I had a truck.

The kit behind belongs to Roger Earl, we were the opening act for Foghat that night. Man did we stink! hey we were kids and it was fun ;-)

Actually this pic was taken not to far from Mikei, this was a club in Victorville, CA

And yes, that is hair on my head ;-)
