mixing hoops

I've never yet made the switch to die cast hoops. I'm often tempted after hearing alot of good things about them. But they're expensive.

This gave me an idea... is it advisable to change maybe just 1 side? Like having a die cast on the top and a triple flange on the bottom? Does anyone do this? what kind of sound will you get? What about the reverse?

We experiment with different heads on the top and bottom, but how much difference would the hoops/rims have on it as well?

ive seen a few people who have a snare with a wood hoop on batter and the stock triple flange on snare side. it sounded fine. looked a little top heavy though.
