MEINL USA, a division of Meinl Cymbals and Percussion, is currently accepting resumes for a sales representative to join our team.

We are a small, but thriving company that is using creative and fresh ideas to bring new life into the music instrument wholesale industry. We sell cymbals and hand percussion instruments to music retailers, but with a commitment to service and building long term relationships with our customers. We have a relaxed environment to work in, but believe in working hard to reap the benefits.

We are looking for someone to join our group that: shares our passion for music and drums/percussion, loves to travel, has an open mind towards business, is willing to meet new people, and is not afraid to do a little physical labor when needed. For instance, we don't just sell instruments to the store and move on to the next call. After the deal is closed, we go back to the store several times to install displays, merchandise the gear so our products stand out in the store, and help our customers build their business. We want to build our team with people that are willing to build relationships with our customers instead of just hitting a sales quota every month. We are all team players and assist each other in tasks outside of our sales territories to build the company. We expect that you would do the same. Sometimes we fly in late at night from a trip, but still show up in the office the next morning on time. It's just part of our nature.

If this sounds like something you're interested in, you will need to live in the Nashville area to work in our office and be willing to travel to the sales territory every other week. The territory will cover several states in the west including: Arizona, Colorado, California, Idaho, Kansas, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington, and possibly more. This territory involves extensive airplane travel, sometimes up to five times in one week. Applicants will need to be okay with air travel to this extent.

We will train you in our programs. Experience working with/serving customers in any field is a plus. If you have the skills to maintain a busy travel schedule and clearly communicate to your customers, great! If you don't have those skills yet, but you are willing to learn, that's great too! We can teach you.

Most of our employees play drums or percussion. It is not necessary that you be a drummer or musician, but basic knowledge of percussion instruments or the music wholesale/retail industry is required.

Compensation will be base pay plus commission. Average salary range is $30k - $40k annually depending on the volume of sales. The harder you work for the company and your customers, the more rewarding the compensation will be.

Meinl Cymbals and the company in general are Awesome. Their percussion line is awesome. They make really, really great gear. I have been an endorser for over 20 years. This could be a great opportunity for someone who really wants it.

Does the $40k represent salary + commission?
One thing to consider on top of the salary is that most, if not all regional traveling reps have expense accounts, in the sense that it is expected to take dealers out for lunch and such. So when traveling, there are very few out of pocket expenses.
