Made the switch from Remo to Evans UV2/EMAD/GMAD

So after much debate and even some hesitation... I had finally replaced my factory Pork Pie Remo heads with Evans UV2s, UV EMAD, Heavyweight snare and GMAD kick. I thought the Remo's sound great and I've had them on since 2016 when I bought the kit new... but it was time for a change. So far I'm super impressed with the UV series. There's not a stick mark to be found! Tuning was easy to get where I wanted them. The UV EMAD floor tom is super beefy! Almost to thick but exactly what I wanted in a sound!

What do you prefer?

Cool…I thought the toms sounded good either way, was not fond of the tom EMAD until you took the rings off or GMAD. Snares were great. And I missed Harper ;)

Great vid as usual!

Great vid but sorry to say they sounded real flat to me almost no tone at all no singing going on thats just me.

If you're happy with them, then that's all that matters! If you are still having trouble tuning, change out the resos as well. I know for me, it was initially difficult to change out the resos because they look brand new; however, they have a huge impact on sound and tuning. I struggled with tuning my Ludwig CM kit for months before I decided to try new resos. It made all the difference.

I got the best results on my Pork Pie USA kit with Remo Ambassador coated on the top and Ambassador clears on the bottoms. I tried all kinds of heads, but I enjoyed this combo the most.

I use an Evans Emad on every kick I own, and I use Evans G1 coated on the batters of my toms and G1 clears on the resos on one of my vintage Ludwig kits. They are VERY comparable with Ambassadors, but they fit better than the Remos did. Evans makes a great drum head!

Great choices. I run Evans UV1 or UV2 over EC Reso Clear on my Ludwig CM's and the ST Coated or G14 Coated on all my snares. While Evan's bass drum batters are pretty decent, the only exception is that drum where I run Remo Powerstroke 3 Clear.. there's just something about the Evans heads that don't super-wow me on the kick like they do everywhere else at the moment. All personal pref!

I really like your tuning scheme, sounds very musical.

Floor tom rings vs no rings, I preferred no ring. I really didn't care for the GMAD on the BD. It seemed to have some high frequency artifact in there that bugged me.

Keep in mind I was listing via laptop speakers so probably not the best for making a judgment.

Great video. Thnx.

how did u like that heavy weight snare head u replaced. and have u ever used one on a 12" snare.

i cant relate to your situation. one of your mics is likely more money than i have into both my kits....... plus im also playing a kick hat snare kit right now. lol. but you obviously know what u are doing and have great drumming skillz!! thanks for sharing.
