Hey guys what's up,

I'm looking at some lm402s and was wondering are all the shells made of alluminum now, or how do I know if I'm buying a chrome over brass vs alluminum. And do they call the ludalloy snares alluminum.

Thanks

All LM402 shells are aluminum now. If you want a Supra with a brass shell, look for LB402 (COB), LB417 (NOB), or LB422 (HB).

If you are handed a COB LM402, remove a lug and look inside the lug hole where the screw has stripped away the chrome. They are also much heavier. The aluminum alloy that Ludwig uses is referred to as Ludalloy.

The COB supras have a welded shell. Just look for the seam. They also have an extra bend on the bearing edge fold at the inner end.

The pre serial COB snare drums are called Super 400 . They are one of the best snare drums ever made IMHO ...Get one ..
