Looking for a bass pedal - need recommendations

Hey all,

I'm looking for a pedal with a super smooth action, BUT does NOT need it's own case.

I love the Tama speed cobra and iron cobra pedals, but they can't be folded down. I refuse to carry any pedal that can't be stowed in my hardware bag.

I used to have a Yamaha Flying Dragon, which did collapse, but it had bearing issues and never felt 'right' to me.

I currently have the Sonor Jojo Mayer pedal, and do like it, especially how portable it is, but I have already had to replace broken parts on it.

Some of the cheaper pedals just feel, well, cheap and insubstantial under my foot.

Is there any 'middle ground' pedal that you are using and liking a lot?

Thanks for all input.

I like Pearl pedals---this is an old one that I use on my gigging kit---smooth, fast, solid, and LIGHT. I bought it from a friend who used it for years for bar gigs. I generally prefer solid base plates, but for ease of transport this is my go-to pedal.

Hmmmmm, I gig around town with a TAMA IC, chain unhooked and in a DW 5000 pedal bag that fits easily into my hardware bag.

A pedal with a base plate should be placed at the end of the hardware bag, the end that's up if you have wheels on your bag. Don't have a DW 5000 pedal bag handy? Can quickly wrap the pedal in a towel.

JoJo Mayer Perfect Balance pedal. Supposed to be very smooth and folds flat like a pancake.

I used to own a pedal like yours, then went to a tama spped cobra then a dw5000. Never looked back.

Tried a yamaha single chain yesterday at the drum shop. A real piece of crap.

Honestly, no rebound, no feel, nothing. Keep in mind I am a dedicated yamaha fan !

Never tried the joj pedal, might be worth a look.

If you like the Jojo pedal (which I do), you should give the recently re-issued Yamaha FP-720 a try. As simple as it gets. Super smooth. Really reliable (I have used mine almost daily for almost 40 years...).
