LiveBPM is dead

Looks like LiveBPM is dead, at least on the App Store. It appears to still be available on Google Play.

Anyone got a suggestion for a good replacement? Free or paid. I've looked at a few that have all sorts of bells and whistles, which I don't need. I just need an app that did what LiveBPM did, which was: 1) start listening as soon as I launch it, and 2) display the BPM of what it hears.
 
I just pulled it up. It's still working on my Android.
 
Hope it doesn't go away completely. That is still the only app I've ever paid for! I use it on Android, so sadly I don't have a good suggestion for a replacement.

I use it all the time.
Great app. It sucks if it’s dead.

If you have it installed, it should continue to work. But being removed from the App Store means that if you get a new device you probably won't be able to install it there. And there's no updates coming - not that this simple app needs updating, to be fair.

This happens often for small, niche apps - the developer stops working on it for any number of reasons and stops posting updates.

I mostly use it see what the tempo is on songs just by turning it on while music is playing. It can be used to see how steady your own tempo is also. Sometimes when we are writing new material I'll have it going while we are playing and if that tempo feels good to everyone I'll assign that tempo to the song in my metronome. I use a metronome in one band I'm in. It's a handy quick reference.

And in addition to the above I've used it a number of times to check whether a certain song had been recorded to click or not :) .
 
Like Stroman above, I think it's the only app I ever paid for. I love it and glad to see it's still working on my iphone. I find it useful to check for consistent tempo and fun to check how consistent I can be.

Also handy to use in rehearsals as evidence of said consistency when it is questioned by the bass player ;)
