Let's see your POV/ Driver's seat pics

POV pic from the L.A. country club hit this afternoon. All the usual suspects - Dee Dubs and Feisty Paiste’s.

The 18” Thin Flat and the 16” Paperthin are a match made in heaven. Still waiting on the 14” Medium Hats to come in. The 15” Sound Edge hats are just a smidge clumsy on these ultra-quiet gigs, especially paired with the other two wafer thin mints.

Nice shot & kit!
Am I seeing a pedal steel/Country band?
(I played lead guitar in a Classic Country band, 10+ years.)

Also, is it just the camera, or do those drumsticks have a really skinny taper/tip?

Silly questions on a Sunday morning! Thanks

Country? Yessssir!!! Mostly classic, a few pub favorites thrown in of course (Brown Eyed Girl, Margaritaville, etc).
Those sticks do have a long taper and smaller tip; Vic Firth AJ-2's. They have such a wonderful feel.... lots of rebound. These sticks were a discovery a few years ago sitting in at a blues jam, the host drummer insisted I try them.... I ended up loving them.

Fantastic! Thanks!

I lead a small Classic R&R/blues/Dead band, but always w/ some Country Classic from my old band thrown in,
( in that band, I wasn't the main Country singer, but I am now, on a few...).

May need to try those sticks- but just on a practice pad for now!

That sounds like a fun band. I always heard a lot of both country and blues influences in the "Dead's tunes.
I think in the early '70's, when Jerry & Dead, started to ( sort of) leave the more psychedelic and noisy stuff ( which I like too), and steer towards cleaning things up, jamming on fast Country/Bluegrass as vehicles for improv, more melodic too maybe?, it really turned my head!
"I want to play like that!"

and I really did not actively get into the GD, big time until 2000's. I always liked the Dead but it seems around 2000 is when I really went nuts, just listening, for years too. Playing catch-up!

Apologies for derail!

The latest incarnation! Fiddled around with an x-hat again, but couldn't find a comfortable spot for it and left it out. I've also left out the stack for this and the previous session, didn't really miss it. The patterns i normally played on the stack are now played now on the ride, ride bell or the china. Really focussing on a comfy setup last few months and the ride is now in it's sweet spot; no room for an x-hat or stack since i use the china way more. Like this setup since i don't have to overreach anymore to hit a stack or china etc.

New is the Paiste 2002 8" Splash. That thing sounds perfect together with the 10" 2002 Splash. The 19" 2002 Crash has been returned for a replacement since i got a damaged model and the 19" RUDE Thin Crash is on backorder (wasn't in stock). Matter of time now for my transition back to Paiste is complete, only the two Zildjian crashes are what remain. Final piece will most likely be a 20" RUDE Novo China to finish this setup.

Also brought my own hi-hat stand and should have done that way sooner. Such a smooth and easy to control stand! Pic is from the beginning of the session and you can spot the Ahead Rock sticks there. Gave them a go again, but during a break near the end of the first song swapped them for the good ol' wood 2B's. Don't know what it is with the Ahead sticks, but after a few minutes my right shoulder starts to act up and the muscles in my arms also don't like them.

A little pregame POV pic before the hit tonight. Fundraiser event for the fancy folks down on the Kern River, east of Bakersfield. Dirty and hot, just like I like it! 🥵:ROFLMAO:

Going with the 22” Thin Flat and 15” SE hats only tonight. Sounding pretty tasty under the C414. 🙏
